A stethoscope is a medical instrument used to auscultate (hearken to) sounds produced by the center, lungs, and different inside organs. It consists of a chestpiece, tubing, and earpieces. The chestpiece is positioned on the pores and skin over the organ being examined, and the earpieces are positioned within the examiner’s ears.
The stethoscope was invented in 1816 by Ren Laennec, a French doctor. Laennec was analyzing a younger girl with coronary heart issues, and he was hesitant to put his ear immediately on her chest due to her modesty. As an alternative, he rolled up a bit of paper and positioned it on her chest, after which he listened to her coronary heart via the paper. He discovered that he might hear her coronary heart sounds extra clearly than he might along with his ear immediately on her chest.
